How visitors experience our site and our clients’ sites is important to us. That is why we care about 100e2r, or 100% Easy-2-Read, as defined by Information Architects.
As part of our initiative to make our site easy to read, we made the following enhances today:
- Switched the font in the body content area on all pages to Georgia (serif) instead of Tahoma (sans-serif).
- Increased the font size in the body content area and home page.
- Changed the heading color on the blog page from gray to black
We also made our blog page more consumable by changing the number of posts displayed from 5 to 10 and adding featured images. Then we made it less cluttered by removing the comment count bubble and the post tags and categories links, and moving the byline in its place. Removing this clutter gave us the opportunity to increase the number of words in the post excerpt.
We look forward to applying the concepts of 100e2r to our clients’ websites as well, including increasing font size and line height to a comfortable size, making sure that there is a very strong contrast between the font color and background color, and helping to make paragraphs more consumable.
